Mobile Gaming Devices

During the past five years, it has been increasing common for people to carry a mobile phone and a portable gaming unit with them, and a number of companies (Nokia in particular) have sought to capitalise upon this by releasing a combined unit that integrates these two functions.
The Nokia N-Gage was released in 2003, with an updated design (the N-Gage QD) in 2005. Due to the unit's lukewarm success, Nokia has since announced that games will now be playable on their new range of smartphones, such as the Nokia N93, rather than one particular 'gaming handheld', as before. Users will be able to download games over the mobile network, or play games downloaded via a computer. Although the full details of this scheme have not yet been released, the new functionality is expected for mid 2007.
