First Star Software

First Star Software, Inc. was founded by Richard Spitalny and Fernando Herrera in 1982 for computer game development, publishing and licensing. The company is best known for its classic Spy vs. Spy titles and Boulder Dash franchise, which were originally written for 8-bit home computers such as the Apple II, Commodore 64 and Atari 400/800, with millions of units sold.
The company's games are also licensed to be ported to a number of video game consoles, such as the SEGA Master System and the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). From 2002, First Star Software also published its games for portable devices, like handheld game consoles, PDAs and mobile phones. Like many other 1980s titles, the company's games are well-suited for the current hardware capabilities of such devices, both in terms of display specifications (resolution, colour palette, frame rate and physical size) and power consumption/processor speed.
