MUSE Software
Muse Software was an American company founded in 1978 by Ed Zaron that developed and published software and computer games for the first generation of home computers. The company first published for the Apple II, and later expanded to the Atari 800, Commodore 64 and the IBM PC, and selling non-game software such as Appilot (written by Warner), a course-writing language and Super-Text (written by Zaron), a word processor.
Due to a number of marketing problems, the company closed down in 1987. A number of years later, id Software obtained permission to use the name of one of Muse's most popular titles, Castle Wolfenstein, for their new game Wolfenstein 3D, in order to trade upon the well-respected name.
